At the end of tryouts, team members will be selected to join the Georgia Tech Spirit program (Gold, White, Navy, & Buzz). Teams will be solidified by the end of camp week before school starts. We expect the athletes to continue to work and improve skills over the summer.
Video submissions are accepted at the discretion of the coaching staff; an in person tryout is preferred and expected. Please contact [email protected]u to discuss video submission. We can not guarantee an athlete a position based solely on their video submission, and may be placed on alternate status until an in-person tryout is conducted.
A membership distinction based on a high level of tumbling skill, stunting position and skill, leadership, attitude, academic grade point standing,
tryout score and the needs of the squad.
> Females are required to demonstrate a standing back tuck
> Males are required to demonstrate a standing back tuck and coed toss extension
Members who meet the minimum stunting and tumbling skills, attitude requirements, academic grade point standing, tryout score and needs of the squad.
> Females are required to demonstrate two consecutive standing back handsprings
> Males are not required to demonstrate tumbling skills, however, these skills are preferred
Navy (Appearance) Squad
All members trying out for Navy will be required to demonstrate solid motions, performance, professionalism, and a general enthusiasm for Georgia Tech.
All individuals trying out for Buzz for the first time will be required to attend all days of tryouts. Friday night, May 5, will consist of an introduction clinic on “Being Buzz”. During the clinic on Saturday, May 6, all participants will be working on their skit for tryouts. Each participant’s unique tryout skit will be performed Saturday night, May 6, during the tryouts for cheerleading.
